E2b Group Raise Money for Hounds For Heroes!

We raised £53.00 and handed the money to Shellie Russell.

The reason this charity was set up was to use trained dogs to help  injured people from the armed forces. The dogs are especially chosen to be trained and the training takes 15 months.

These dogs can pick things up, help with shopping, help with house chores, help with the washing and cleaning and help with cooking. These dogs can answer the door, post things and get money from the cash machine.  These dogs can do a lot of helpful things that you would never expect. The dogs are very experienced, very intelligent and understand how you feel.

More Money Rolls In!

Yippeee!

One of our former LSA's, Angela Breen, turned up this week with another £60.00 for our Uganda fundraising week!

 This takes our Uganda total to £585.43 which is FAB !!!!

Simon Polley presented the cheque to David and the Berkshire Scouts on Tuesday evening at their Annual General Meeting. 

 The total rasied by Pathways students this year (for lots of different charities) is now:  £1,131.43p !

Sheep Shearing

Four members of Entry 2 Foundation had a go at sheep shearing before half term. Nathan and Matthew got to do the shearing. Sophie and Sam helped round up the sheep. We all thoroughly enjoyed it apart from getting soaking wet when it rained. We would love to do it again!

Our trip to Basildon Park

On Thursday 05th May 2011, we went to Basildon Park to look around the house. When we got there, we got some maps and, in groups asked the room assistants lots of questions about the place. Inside the building, we saw the different rooms and we were told about its history. We liked seeing the amazing artwork inside the rooms. After that, we went to the restaurant to have a drink and talk to our friends. On Thursday 5th May Pathways Entry 3, groups went to Basildon Park to see how different it was back in the 1700 and 1800’s. Both groups got a little taste of what it was like to be a part of the house in Victorian times. So, in order for us all to do so, we walked around the house looking in the rooms and seeing how good the rooms looked.   We asked the members of staff who worked there some questions about the house so we could all get an idea of how people lived back then. The house was amazing for the owners to live in but it must have been hard to work as a servant there. The kitchen was outside and footmen had to walk a long way with the food to the dining room. Servants had to be quiet and not get in the way. They worked from 5.00 am until about 10.00 at night cooking, cleaning and looking after the family. Richard Creffield
